July 15-17, 2008

Highlights:

 

Topics Taught: Upon completion of this clinic, students will: 
  • Introduction to Athletic Training

  • Injury Prevention

  • Taping and Wrapping Techniques

  • Wound Care

  • Common injuries, care, and treatment for the foot and ankle, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

  • Emergency procedures

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Alternate sections and topics available for  advanced participants.

  • Have a greater understanding of the anatomy of the human body.

  • Be able to apply multiple taping techniques to prevent injury and help injured athletes return to play quicker.

  • Understand the mechanisms of common injuries.

  • Have basic knowledge and skills in the evaluation of common injuries.

  • Be able to immediately care for injuries.

  • Be able to apply various types of splints to the extremities.

  • Understand immediate care procedures for suspected injuries to the spine.

  • Have a basic knowledge and skills to assist their high school teams.

  • Students who pass the minimum standards will receive Sport Safety Training Certificates from the American Red Cross.

 
    
Cost:
     Commuter:  $200 ($180-if you register before June 15th)
     Overnight:  $300 ($270-if you register before June 15th)

All students receive:

  • T-shirt
  • Sport Safety Training materials
  • Lunch (breakfast and dinner for overnight students)
  • Supplies
    

Location:    Donald W. Reynolds Center on the TU Campus

Time:  Begins at 8:00a.m. each morning
             Ends at 5:30p.m. (12:00p.m. on the last day)
