Minitab and
Fundamentals of Data Analysis

Enhance your quality improvement skills and discover the power of the Minitab to help Mange your six sigma projects.  This popular statistical tool, used by some of the world’s largest companies to manage and analyze process improvements, can help you identify and reduce defects, improve productivity, and increase profit through improved performance!

This class is a combo beginning through intermediate Minitab class—a total of four days in the classroom with two weeks in between.  Course materials include the Minitab Handbook.  Participants are required to bring laptops with pre-loaded Minitab Software—either a trial version or company purchased.

Who Should Attend: A skill-building course, this program is for quality professionals, Six Sigma practitioners, engineers, and analysts or others who have experience with statistics and who would like to learn the functionality of the Minitab software.

Fundamental Course Topics:

  • Introduction to Minitab:  Working with data; Working with projects and worksheets

  • Worksheet Operations: Editing a worksheet; Manipulating data; Importing and exporting data

  • One variable Graphs and Summaries: Creating distribution plots; Histograms, boxplots, descriptive statistics

  • Two and Three Variable Graphs: Scatterplots, matrix plots, 3-D scatterplots, seasonal time series plots

 Intermediate Course Topics:

  • Statistical Distributions

  • One-Sample Confidence Intervals and Tests for Means

  • Comparing Two Means: Confidence Intervals and Tests

  • Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)

  • Regression and Correlation

  • Chi Square Tests and Contingency Tables

  • Non-Parametric Statistics

  • Control Charts
     

Instructor:
Kevin Clay is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and brings over 15 years of operational experience into the classroom. He has a wide range of Lean Six Sigma project experience in industries such as manufacturing, food processing, residential and commercial construction, banking, healthcare, etc.  Kevin has a B.S in Industrial Technology and an M.S. in Manufacturing Technology and Management from East Carolina University.  At TU, Kevin teaches both the Green and Black Belt Certification classes, as well as Minitab.
